INDEX
Returns the value at a given row and column position within a range.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=INDEX(array, row_num, [column_num])
Example
=INDEX(A1:A10,5)
When to Use It
INDEX is most powerful paired with MATCH — together they can look up a value based on a condition in any column, not just the leftmost one like VLOOKUP requires.
