Instructions
Create three columns: Category, Budgeted, and Actual. List categories like Rent, Groceries, Transport, and Entertainment.
Below your list, add a Total row:
=SUM(B2:B10)
Use SUM to total both the Budgeted and Actual columns. Apply Currency formatting to every number so the sheet reads clearly.
Sample Data
| Category | Budgeted | Actual |
|---|---|---|
| Rent | 1200 | 1200 |
| Groceries | 400 | 380 |
| Transport | 150 | 165 |
| Entertainment | 100 | 95 |
Challenge
Add a fourth column called "Difference" that calculates Budgeted minus Actual for each row, so you can see at a glance which categories went over budget.
Expected Result
A working budget tracker with automatic totals for both Budgeted and Actual spending, and a Difference column that highlights where you overspent.
