MID
Returns a specific number of characters from the middle of a text string, starting at a position you choose.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=MID(text, start_num, num_chars)
Example
=MID(A1,4,2)
When to Use It
Use MID when the part of the text you need isn't at the very start or end — e.g. pulling the month digits out of a fixed-format date-like code.
