MEDIAN
Returns the middle value in a set of numbers — half the values are above it, half below.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=MEDIAN(number1, [number2], ...)
Example
=MEDIAN(B2:B20)
When to Use It
Use MEDIAN instead of AVERAGE when a data set has extreme outliers that would otherwise skew a simple average, e.g. typical home prices in a neighborhood with one very expensive outlier.
