Information
ISNUMBER
Returns TRUE if a value is a number, and FALSE otherwise.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=ISNUMBER(value)
Example
=ISNUMBER(A1)
When to Use It
Use ISNUMBER to confirm a cell actually contains a real number before doing math on it — useful when data has been imported or pasted and might secretly be stored as text.
